FIVE SMALL MISSIONS
From the first idea to the gift arriving at your door, these checks help you ask useful questions and know when to seek more information.
Start with the child’s age, the product’s intended use and what your family actually needs.
Put your ideas in one placeFind the exact model, warnings and instructions. Search official recalls and match the identifiers.
Find reliable guidanceCan you identify and contact the seller and manufacturer? Ask for missing product details.
Know what to askMatch the gift to the order. Keep packaging and instructions, and check for damage or missing parts.
Use the arrival checklistShare the exact item and explain why it was chosen. Ask gift buyers to check before substituting.
Create a clearer wish listReviews, logos and checklists do not prove that a product is safe. Missing information is a reason to ask questions, rather than proof of a safety problem.
YOUR THOUGHTFUL GIFT LIST
Keep the exact product, seller and useful checks together. Print your list or download an editable copy to share with the people buying gifts.
Don’t include children’s names or private family details.
MADE WITH CARE
Add an item to begin, or print a blank template to fill in together.
Your list stays in this open page only. We don’t send it to a server or save it in your browser. Download or print it before leaving.
A list records your choices and questions; it does not certify a product’s safety.
WHEN THE GIFT ARRIVES
Keep the details that help you identify the product later. If something worries you, pause and seek advice.
Open the full FOLO-UP reporting form to record the product, seller, what you observed and supporting evidence. Your submission is a signal for evidence capture and controlled human review, not a confirmed safety finding.
Official reporting routes for your UK nation ↗Ticking these boxes is a reminder, not a safety assessment. Don’t use a product you suspect may be unsafe while seeking advice.
RELIABLE PLACES TO START
Use official guidance and specialist child-safety information. Always check that an alert applies to the exact product and model you’re considering.
Search published product records on GOV.UK and check the model and batch details.

SAFER ONLINE SHOPPING FOR BABY
We’re developing a community learning project to help volunteers share practical product checks with expectant parents, carers, relatives and baby-gift buyers.
Our proposed approach combines small-group workshops, realistic shopping scenarios, teach-back and reusable resources. Printed materials and supported discussion will sit alongside mobile-friendly tools.
Ask about volunteering ↗These are proposed targets, not achieved outcomes. The draft plan runs from 23 November 2026 to 3 March 2027. Hounslow is the provisional delivery area; dates, partners and locations remain to be confirmed.
The project’s funding application is in preparation. No OPSS award or endorsement is claimed. Participation in any funded training is intended to be free, with no purchase, extension or AI account required.
A LITTLE CLARITY
No. This tool helps record choices, product details and questions. A favourable review, logo or completed checklist is not a guarantee. Ask for product-specific information when claims cannot be independently checked.
Ask for evidence tied to the exact product and model: the applicable standard and edition, issuer, report or certificate number, and relevant technical information. A generic standards reference alone does not establish conformity.
Keep the product identifiers, order details, instructions and listing screenshots if safe to do so. Use the official reporting route for your UK nation. FOLO-UP’s Whistle tool can optionally capture a listing signal for controlled human review; it does not confirm that a product is unsafe.
If someone is in immediate danger or seriously injured, call 999.
Yes. Print a blank shopping and wish-list template or complete the list here and print it. No login is needed. You can also ask us about accessible formats or proposed community sessions.
The focus is learning about consumer products for children under five, such as toys, clothing and nursery products. It excludes food, formula, chemicals, medical products and vehicles. We do not provide medical advice, certify products or fund shopping purchases and baby-shower parties.
Babyshower List supports FOLO-UP’s Safer Online Shopping for Baby initiative. IRELCO LTD (company number 15377065) is the draft project applicant. FOLO-UP is an independent public-interest product-safety initiative, not a regulator. We consult official UK product-safety guidance and engage with relevant authorities, consumer organisations and specialist bodies where appropriate.
